Barn och musik
Barn älskar musik! Det räcker med att man nynnar en liten melodi eller sätter på radion för att de skall reagera med glada miner, klappa händerna och börja vagga fram och tillbaka. Inte så konstigt att det finns så många vaggvisor runt om i världen. Allt från jollrande bebisar till sura tonåringar mår bättre och blir lugnare eller mer energiska om de får ha tillgång till musik. Men finns det några direkta, mätbara effekter av att lyssna på musik? Är det mer än bara kul för små barn att vara omgivna av toner och rytmer?
Musik som inlärning
Forskning har visat att
musik är viktigt för barn av en rad olika anledningar. Det påverkar inte bara humöret utan kan till exempel användas i pedagogiska syften då det har visat sig att barn har lättare att lära sig saker som att läsa och räkna med musikalisk hjälp. Vem minns till exempel inte bokstavssången man fick lära sig för att kunna säga alfabetet på engelska? Den sitter även om det har gått flera årtionden sedan inlärningsmomentet. Detta är något man kan tillämpa i vardagen då man kan sjunga sånger i samband med påklädning och gå igenom plaggens namn eller genom att räkna saker med melodins hjälp. Är man ute på promenad med barnvagn kan man sjunga om det man ser omkring sig och man kan hitta på roliga lekar genom att finns rytmer och toner i olika ljud, som tågets lunkande eller bussmotorns brummande.
Hjärnans utveckling
I skrivande stund pågår det ett stort forskningsprojekt i USA där man under en femårsperiod mäter hur musik påverkar barns hjärnor. Enligt forskarna så tyder allt på att
musik hjälper hjärnans utveckling hos barn och att skillnaderna är ganska tydliga mellan barn som har konstant tillgång till musik och barn som inte har någon alls. Enkelt uttryckt så ser man att barn som är omgivna av musik har en mer aktiv hjärna, vilket tyder på att man ”odlar” dess kapacitet från ett tidigt stadium om man ser till att de små får lyssna på toner och harmonier.
Mognad och språk
Det är inte bara i USA som man konstaterat att musik har en positiv inverkan på små barn. Tyska forskare har också mätt musikens effekt på inlärningsprocessen och här har man kommit fram till att barn som sjunger mycket blir mer mogna och har bättre språk kapacitet. Här vill man uppmuntra föräldrar att
sjunga för det ofödda barnet då allt tyder på att även foster kan påverkas positivt av musik. Detta är något som även delfiner gör och man har dessutom konstaterat att det inte spelar någon som helst roll vilken sorts musik man gör tillgänglig för barnen. Bara det är musik så räcker det!
